Black Spruce  (Picea mariana)

Black Spruce (Picea mariana) is a remarkable slow-growing tree native to northern North America. With its straight trunk and short, drooping branches adorned with dense blue-green needles, it showcases a unique beauty. Although it is shade tolerant, providing at least 6 of direct sunlight daily will ensure a fuller specimen. While it does not tolerate salt well, it can also survive in wetter environments, making it a versatile choice for various landscapes. It even earned nicknames like bog spruce or swamp spruce!
